Artist Benjamin Champney shows a painting to photographer Thomas E. M. White and others, near Artist’s Brook in North Conway, New Hampshire. As Champney wrote in his 1900 memoirs, “I feel if I have not accomplished anything great in art, I have at least given pleasure to the inmates of many homes throughout the land, by giving them faithful reproductions of local scenes.”
