Gerry frequently published articles about art appreciation in the Boston Evening Transcript, part of his ongoing effort to educate the public. When he died, the Transcript took note of his frequent literary contributions to the newspaper and memorialized him by writing, “Samuel L. Gerry, an artist well known, not only in this city, but throughout the whole country.”
